Racing License
FastLane Raceschool’s SCCA licensing program is the most accessible way to obtain a full competition race license. Our novice and full competition schools are intense, multi-day courses designed to prepare drivers for SCCA sanctioned track events and teach them the skills needed to win.
Overview
Step 1: Car Control
Learn the ins and outs of high-speed track driving through classroom discussion and instructor led on track sessions.
Step 2: Novice School
Start practicing the specific skills needed to become competitive on the track through this two-day program. After passing this, you will be eligible for your SCCA Novice permit.
Step 3: Full Competition
Master the skills your learned in our novice course while practicing advanced, wheel-to-wheel driving techniques. Upon successfully passing this course you’ll be eligible to race in any SCCA sanctioned event.
Step 4: Go Racing!
Now that you’re a licensed racer it’s time to hit the track! FastLane has tons of courses, services, and experiences perfect for showcasing your new-found skills.

Indianapolis 500 winner, NTT IndyCar Series Champion, Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach winner and Long Beach Motorsports Walk of Fame inductee – Will Power, took some time to talk about his 2021 season and the intricacies of the Long Beach circuit. He also talks about simulators and how they benefit him and his team. A surprise guest walks by for a quick “hello” during this interview. After a poor qualifying session (for him) Power already has his game face on prior to the start of the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach.
Will Power certainly knows how to push hard (as shown above) flying across the curbs to extract every last fraction of a second from his lap time. His 63 pole positions are second only to Mario Andretti!

shown just behind in this photo) moving up two spots from his starting position. With a guy like Power, you know he wasn’t happy with that.

Unfortunately, he left his braking just a bit too late during qualifying and gets sideways in Turn 9. He ran out of room at the exit of the corner and made contact with the wall. That tiny mistake left him starting in the 12

position.
