Two-time Indianapolis 500 winner and six-time Grand Prix of Long Beach winner, Al Unser Jr.  is no stranger to racing fans. We had the opportunity to chat with him following the media luncheon for the 2024 Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach. He tells us about how Long Beach was so good to him, and also the family struggles and triumphs at Indianapolis. Specifically, he recalls his two victories and how different the circumstances were. His humble demeanor belies the fact that he’s won so many iconic races and championships over the years. It’s no secret that he also had addiction struggles and he talks about how he’s doing now and what he’s up to in “retirement.” A fabulous chat with a legend in the sport. Enjoy!

Note: The book, Al Unser Jr. A Checkered Past, is available wherever good books are sold. For more information on the Unser museum collection, please visit: www.museumofamericanspeed.org.
