Marco Sorensen is a three-time FIA World Champion and has won legendary races such as the 24hrs of Le Mans and 24hrs of Daytona.  We caught up with him right after the IMSA qualifying press conference of the 2023 Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach where he had just put his Aston Martin Vantage GT3 GTD car on pole! This was impressive as this was his first time driving the Long Beach circuit. A humble guy outside of the car, he certainly knows how to get the job done behind the wheel. In this interview he tells us how he accomplished this feat and also gives us some background on his racing career. Enjoy!

Note: Sorensen and his co-driver (Roman De Angelis) finished second at Long Beach. You can see Sorensen in action at the “Roar Before the 24” test session and qualifying at Daytona on January 19-21, 2024 and then again as he attempts to repeat his win in the Rolex 24 at Daytona January 27-28, 2024. Marco Sorensen is a three-time FIA World Champion sports car driver and multiple 24hr winner!

In the press room just after his pole-sitting conference, Sorensen’s smile tells just part of his successful story.

Hustling his way through the long sweeping Turn 10, Sorensen’s speed is on display as you can see the lean in his Aston Martin Vantage.

The gorgeous and voluptuous lines of the Vantage are highlighted with the thin yellow stripes under the rear taillights as he enters the hairpin.

The iconic Long Beach skyline frames the background of the concrete jungle race track that Sorensen is shown navigating his way through the slow but important Turn 11 hairpin. A good exit here means maximum speed down the long Shoreline Drive front “straight.”
