In our last podcast, we had the opportunity to interview Santino Ferrucci in the driver’s lounge of the AJ Foyt Racing transporter. While we were there, I noticed that he had a very unique design on his helmet. He was nice enough to spend more time and talk about his colorful and fun design and hint of some other designs to come. Unlike some drivers who keep the same design through their entire career, Ferrucci loves to change it up! This is certainly something extra for fans to pay attention to during the racing season. Enjoy!
NOTE: We’ll see if we can arrange another helmet design interview with Ferrucci again this year and see what he’s come up with.

Santino Ferrucci is happy to show off his helmet that’s both a functional safety item and a piece of artwork. Not a guy that’s satisfied with one helmet design for his entire career, he’s ready to mix up designs throughout the year.
Santino Ferrucci has the Tom & Jerry theme going with this helmet whereby on this side, Tom is trying to catch Jerry.
The orange “bullseye” side has the two cartoon characters as friends. Notice his stylized name on top and the HANS post and IndyCar tech sticker on the bottom.
Stars of the cartoon world – Jerry seems to be having fun scampering away from Tom!
A unique graphic wide back stripe carries all the way through to the front.
The wide middle graphic highlights some of Ferrucci’s sponsors on the front of his helmet.
With a razor blade in hand, Ferrucci works on modifying the clear plastic air intake on his helmet. All of the aeroscreens in the NTT IndyCar Series were updated with a modification for the season and he found that the airflow into his helmet was not exactly what he wanted.
A little cut here and a little cut there – Ferrucci works on modifying his helmet air intake.
The quick hands of Ferrucci behind the wheel on track are slow and steady as he uses his razor blade to make final adjustments.
