Tim de Silva is a race car driver who races not only in Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) club
racing, but also in the Historic Motor Sports Association (HMSA) where he races vintage Indy
cars and Formula One cars. He’s raced around the world in some of the most iconic and
wonderful cars like these and more in vintage racing. We caught up with him at the 2024 Acura
Grand Prix of Long Beach where he was competing (and winning!) in his and his dad’s
incredible Firestone Lola Indy car that Scott Pruett made famous by winning the Michigan 500
in the return of Firestone to the Indy car championship. De Silva talks about his racing
background and how cool it is to race these fantastic machines. Enjoy!

NOTE: You can watch an on-board video of de Silva at Long Beach and listen to that glorious
sound of the Ford Cosworth V8 reverberating off the walls as he rockets to his second win of the
weekend here.
Also, we just found out that Scott Pruett liked his old car so much, he bought it!

De Silva shares a smile for the camera moments before he would go out and dominate the competition on the streets of Long Beach in the HMSA race.

Tim de Silva leads the field of vintage Indy cars before the start of the Saturday race. He would go on to win that one and the race on Sunday too!

De Silva hustles his Firestone Lola through Turn 10 at Long Beach. The car looks just as good today as it did when it was brand new.

This is the only view de Silva’s competitors got of his Indy car once the race started!
