At FastLane Racing School, we offer a wide variety of programs to help drivers become more
proficient behind the wheel. We are often asked the question of, “Why should I get my racing
license? This is typically followed by, “I never plan on racing.” Our students come to us to earn
their SCCA (Sports Car Club of America) full-competition license for a number of reasons.
However, if you fall into the first question/comment category, here are some of the reasons why
you might want to get some more training. Even if you never plan on racing, a racing license will
allow you to go to race tracks around the country and test on them. Open test days, HPDE
programs, and other racing organizations such as NASA (National Auto Sports Association)
recognize the SCCA full-competition license. This means that if you wanted to do an open test
day, by having a license you would be able to show up and drive* (see note below). Without the
license, some tracks will not allow you to drive on their track unless you are part of a group or
have a professional instructor/co-driver with you.

Furthermore, when you earn your license with us, we go in-depth into racing theory along with
flags and their meanings (information or command). You’ll spend lots of time being on the race
track with your FastLane instructor practicing safe passing maneuvers, driving side-by-side and
more. These exercises benefit the driver by expanding their spatial awareness, car control, and
knowledge to help make them a safer and much more confident driver.

Lastly, just in case you and your buddies get the “racing bug,” and want to start competing in
inexpensive endurance racing series like the ChampCar Endurance Series (champcar.org) or
something else like SCCA or NASA, you’re prepared and ready to jump right in and go racing.
Having the license is just another step in preparedness for all things high-performance driving
and racing. You don’t want to find yourself with an invitation to race and not be prepared!
FastLane is open year ‘round and we run rain or shine.

For more information on how to earn your racing license and much more, please visit
www.raceschool.com and schedule a call with a lead instructor. We’re happy to coach you one-
on-one at the race track whether it’s in a race car, go-kart, street car or SUV. In addition to our
SCCA race licensing programs, we offer training such as the Defensive Driving Academy

(DDA), EVOC (for highway patrol, executive protection, etc.), and we can also customize a
driving program for corporate events, team building and more. We look forward to seeing you at
the race track soon!

*NOTE: All tracks have their own rules, regulations and requirements to get on track and drive.
Please consult your local track to confirm that your SCCA license will grant you access for
testing your vehicle.
